Red-Hot Knicks Look to Extend Streak vs. Reeling Wizards

Game Preview

The surging New York Knicks ride a seven-game winning streak into the nation's capital to face the struggling Washington Wizards on Monday night. While the Knicks have soared to a 22-10 record behind a high-octane offense averaging nearly 125 points, the Wizards have stumbled to a dismal 5-24 start, plagued by lackluster defense and an inability to string together wins.

New York has been virtually unstoppable of late, going 16-4 over their last 20 games while pouring in a blistering 129.9 points per contest. Their offensive onslaught has been fueled by scorching shooting, hitting just over 50% from the field and nearly 39% from beyond the arc. The Knicks have also tightened up defensively, holding opponents to just under 109 points during this torrid stretch.

Conversely, the Wizards have cratered over their last 20 games, stumbling to a dismal 3-17 record while surrendering 122.5 points per game. Their struggles have stemmed from anemic shooting at just under 45% overall and a shade below 33% from three-point range. While Washington has shown flashes on offense, averaging 108.6 points, their porous defense has consistently undercut any positive momentum.

Even in a more manageable five-game sample, the contrasts are stark. The Knicks are undefeated, outscoring opponents by 11 points per game while shooting hovering around 51%. Meanwhile, the Wizards have dropped three of five, getting outscored by over four points per contest despite hitting nearly 46% from the floor.

With New York firing on all cylinders and Washington struggling to gain traction, this matchup has all the makings of an eighth straight Knicks victory. Unless the Wizards can drastically tighten their defense, slowing the surging Knicks appears an uphill battle.
