Game Preview
The high-flying Memphis Grizzlies (17-8) are riding a three-game winning streak and have been on an absolute tear lately, winning 9 of their last 10 games. Over that scorching stretch, they've averaged a blistering 126.7 points per game while locking down defensively, holding opponents to just 114.5 points on a shade above 49% shooting.
The Grizzlies' offense has been clicking on all cylinders lately, scoring nearly 127 points per contest over their last 10 while assisting on a crisp 31.8 baskets per game. They've been lethal from three-point range as well, hovering around a 38.5% clip from deep. On the glass, Memphis has simply overwhelmed opponents, grabbing almost 47 rebounds per game to control the boards.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets (10-14) are searching for answers after a disappointing start. While Kyrie Irving and company have shown flashes, netting over 110 points per game on the season, inconsistency has plagued them. Their recent form has been particularly concerning, dropping 4 of their last 5 games while struggling mightily on offense, mustering just 101.2 points per contest over that stretch.
Brooklyn's shooting numbers have dipped significantly of late, hitting just 44.2% from the floor and a paltry 37.3% from three over their last 5 games. They've also been uncharacteristically sloppy with the ball, coughing it up 13.4 times per game in that span. While their defense has been decent, allowing 111.8 points per game recently, it simply hasn't been enough to make up for their anemic offensive output.
With the Grizzlies absolutely rolling on both ends and the Nets scuffling to find their rhythm, this marquee matchup has all the makings of a Memphis rout unless Brooklyn can somehow rediscover their scoring touch. The Grizzlies have had the Nets' number lately, and if current form holds, Brooklyn could be in for a long night against this juggernaut.
