Lauri Markkanen (UTA) Under 39.5 Pts+Reb+Ast

Lauri Markkanen has undoubtedly been a valuable asset for the Utah Jazz this season, averaging just under 36 combined points, rebounds, and assists per game.

In the last five games, Markkanen has stepped up his game, averaging about 40 combined points, rebounds, and assists. However, this increase seems immaterial in terms of his longterm performance.

Taking a closer look at his recent performances, in seven of the last ten games, Markkanen has had 39 or fewer combined points, rebounds, and assists in each game.

Despite his recent surge, he’s actually been performing close to his season average over the last ten games, with 37 combined points, rebounds, and assists per game. While it’s impressive to see him stepping up in key moments, it’s important to consider the bigger picture and how he performs over a larger sample size.

Given his consistent performance throughout the season, it’s likely that Markkanen will regress towards his mean outcome. While he’s shown flashes of brilliance, it’s important not to get too caught up in his recent surge and to keep an eye on his performance over the course of the season.

Khris Middleton (MIL) Under 18.5 Points

Khris Middleton has long been a key player for the Milwaukee Bucks, but this season he’s seen a slight dip in his production, averaging about 14 points per game. This is a noticeable drop from previous seasons where he was a consistent 20-point per game player.

While he’s still an important contributor to the team, Middleton’s scoring has taken a hit this year.

Despite a standout performance against the Orlando Magic this week where he scored 24 points, it’s important to note that this is largely an outlier performance.

In fact, in five of the last six games, Middleton has had 18 or fewer points in each, bringing his average down to about 13 points per game when we remove the 24-point game.

While he’s certainly capable of having big games, Middleton will need to bring more consistent production if the Bucks hope to make a deep playoff run.
