Chicago Bears vs. New England Patriots Game Predictions (10/24)

  • Point Spread: Patriots -8.5
  • Over/Under Game Total: 40.0

The Bears Predictions

Justin Fields will lead The Bears on the offense. This season Fields has averaged 10 pass completions and almost 145.0 yards per game – not amazing. This week Fields should hopefully be able to exceed his average passing performance and turn things around.

The New England Patriots will likely be looking to put pressure on Justin Fields in the pocket. The Bears offensive line has allowed 23 sacks this season. The Patriots have been aggressive with quarterbacks with 17 sacks recorded (tied for the 10th most in the NFL). So a big challenge for The Bears will be to keep Fields upright.

Luckily Justin Field is agile – he has the second most rushing yards on the team with over 280 yards this season.

David Montgomery will carry the majority of the run game for The Bears. He has averaged almost 70 yards per game this season.

The Bears will have Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet handling the receiving. Darnell Mooney has nearly 2.0 receptions per game but should see much more usage in this matchup. This season, Cole Kmet has averaged 2.5 targets per game and almost 2 receptions per game, his usage should be higher this week and hopefully should be able to connect much more.

It will be up to their defense to keep them in this game most likely.

The Patriots Predictions

Mac Jones will lead The Patriots on the offense. This season Jones has averaged nearly 20 pass completions and over 260 yards per game. This week Jones should be able to keep up with his usual passing pace. This season, The Bears have only allowed around 180 passing yards per game.

The Patriots will have a split backfield with Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris sharing responsibilities of the run game. While Rhamondre Stevenson has carried a larger workload (nearly 15 attempts and 75 yards per game), Damien Harris has been great for The Patriots to use as support.

Jakobi Meyers, DeVante Parker, Hunter Henry, and Tyquan Thornton will be responsible for receiving for The Patriots.

Their receivers have been pretty evenly split, although Jakobi Meyers has averaged 7.5 targets per game, whereas the others are each getting about 5.

Overall this should be a good matchup for The Patriots.

New England Patriots -8.5

The Chicago Bears, have a bad offense with a slightly above average defense. The Patriots are pretty average across the board. From a talent perspective, there is much to write about.

The Patriots are on a 2-game win streak, while The Bears are on a 3-game losing streak.

Mac Jones has a lot of weapons to choose from tonight. Their receivers are all healthy and their backfield is on a tear. The Patriots should be able to put up points and force Justin Fields to beat them.

Justin Fields can certainly get himself out of danger and run the ball himself, but that’s not how you win games. Fields right now is only completing just over 50% of passes and only has 4 touchdown passes this season.

DeVante Parker (NE) Over 28.5 Total Receiving Yards

In games he’s played this season, DeVante Parker has averaged around 40 yards per game. This includes a Week 3 game that Jakobi Meyers missed where be had almost 160 receiving yards.

However, in the last 2 games DeVante Parker has almost 44 receiving yards per game. He is one of the weapons Mac Jones has to leverage and on a night where The Bears will have to choose their coverage of Jakobi Meyers carefully, could leave him open for a big play.

Justin Fields (CHI) Over 7.5 Total Rushing Attempts

Just Fields is definitely comfortable on his feet. He has had 8 or more rush attempts in 5 out of their six games this season.

I don’t see any reason why tonight would be any different.
