Los Angeles Chargers vs. San Francisco 49ers Game Predictions (11/13)

  • Point Spread: 49ers -7.5
  • Over/Under Game Total: 45.5

The Chargers Predictions

Justin Herbert will lead The Chargers on the offense. This season Herbert has averaged nearly 28 pass completions and almost 280 yards per game. This week, Herbert should be able to keep up with his usual passing pace.

Herbert currently has a 90.6 passer rating which is much lower than his first two seasons where his passer rating was about 98. Just Herbert is averaging about 44 pass attempts per game and is completing around 66% of passes.

Joshua Palmer, Gerald Everett, and DeAndre Carter will be responsible for receiving for The Chargers.

This season, Joshua Palmer has averaged nearly 8 targets per game, his usage should be higher this week and should be able to connect much more. He has almost 350 receiving yards this season and 1 touchdown.

Gerald Everett has averaged 4 receptions per game and over 40 receiving yards per game. He should see a similar amount of usage in this matchup. He has two touchdowns this season as well.

Austin Ekeler will carry the majority of the run game for The Chargers. Ekeler has been amazing this season, he has been averaging over 50 rushing yards per game and has 10 touchdowns this season. In addition to running the ball, Austin Ekeler will also be involved in the passing game. This season Ekeler has seen nearly 9.0 targets per game and should see a similar number of looks this week.

The 49ers Predictions

Jimmy Garoppolo will lead The 49ers on the offense. This season Garoppolo has averaged 20 pass completions and nearly 240 yards per game. This week Garoppolo should be able to exceed his average passing performance. The Chargers have allowed almost 210.0 passing yards per game this season.

The 49ers have very much been a run-first offense.

Christian McCaffrey will carry the majority of the run game for The 49ers. Since joining the 49ers midseason, he has already made an imopact! McCaffery has averaged about 13 rush attempts per game and already has two touchdowns with the team.

The 49ers will have Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle handling the receiving.

Deebo Samuel has averaged over 4 receptions per game and should see a similar amount of usage in this matchup.

This season, George Kittle has seen 6.5 targets per game, ideally he’ll get about the same number of looks this week. He has over 300 receiving yards this season and two touchdowns. He’s someone that Garoppolo us very comfortable finding whenever he gets in danger.

Chargers vs. 49ers Game Under 45.5

Neither of these teams are particularly explosive right now or putting up huge points. And if you like anecdotal evidence, primetime games this year have also had some of the lowest scoring games.

The 49ers are 5-3 on games hitting the under this season, The Chargers are 4-4.

George Kittle (SF) Over 40.5 Total Receiving Yards

George Kittle has been a core component of this offense this season. Although The 49ers have relied more on the run game versus passing, Kittle has still been getting his fair share of looks.

I expect that The Chargers will likely try to contain players like Christian McCaffery and Deebo Samuel, which opens the door for Kittle to find space.
